Pilot of Kochi-Dubai Air India flight made hard landing removed from duty

Experts are of the view that though it made a heavy landing the five-year old aircraft didn’t suffer major damages since it is relatively young.

Kochi: Pilot of the Kochi-Dubai Air India flight that made a hard landing at Dubai airport on December 20, has been removed from flying duties pending inquiry. The aircraft, however, halted safely and no one aboard suffered injuries. But the Dubai airport authorities detained the Airbus A320neo aircraft for a week for extensive checks before being allowed to fly back to the airline’s main engineering base in Mumbai.

Experts are of the view that though it made a heavy landing the five-year old aircraft didn’t suffer major damages since it is relatively young.

The aircraft came home for repairs after being allowed one landing which experts from Airbus allowed after studying the flight data recorder. As per the norms, an investigation has already been initiated and the pilot has been off-rostered till the inquiry is concluded, said the airline
