US court asks TCS to pay $210 million to DXC Technology in yet another trade-secret dispute

Kochi: Close on the heels of the US Supreme Court upholding a penalty of $140 million against Indian IT major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the company has been asked by a Texas court to pay a compensation of $210 million to the US-based DXC Technology in yet another trade-secret dispute.

The case had initially been filed by Computer Sciences Corporation which became DXC Technology after a merger with HPE’s enterprise service business.

A Jury in Dallas, Texas federal court, found the Indian IT major was guilty of illegally using confidential information about DXC’s Vantage-One and Cyber Life software for managing life insurance and annuity policies to create its platform.

Responding to the court order a TCS spokesman said `` TCS respectfully disagrees with the jury’s advisory verdict.’’

``The matter will now be decided by the court, which has ordered further briefing from the parties. We plan to continue to litigate this ongoing case. We will have no further comment as the case remains pending,’’ the spokesman said.
